is MARUDERM Face Cleansing Gel Worth It?
My previous cleanser, Jonzac Purifying Cleansing Gel, was really good for me in many ways, but it was not strong enough when I had heavier makeup on my face. That was the main reason I decided to change and try something new, while still staying loyal to sulfate-free cleansers.
I was looking for something gentle, because my skin is sensitive, oily, and also dehydrated at times. So I wanted a cleanser that would feel soft on the skin, not cause irritation, and not leave that tight feeling after washing. That is what led me to MARUDERM Face Cleansing Gel for Sensitive Skin.
First impression & packaging
The first thing I noticed was the packaging. It feels safe, practical, and easy to use. The baby blue color is really cute and calming, and the bottle is simple to handle, which always matters in a daily cleanser.
Nothing about it feels complicated or heavy. It gives that clean, soft, gentle impression right away, which actually fits the product very well.
Texture & scent experience
The texture is a light gel, very soft and easy to spread on the skin. It does not foam much, but that makes sense for a sulfate-free cleanser. It feels mild rather than rich, and it moves easily over the face without feeling harsh.
The scent was a little strange at first. It has a soft alcohol-like smell, but not in a strong or annoying way. It fades quickly while washing, and it does not stay on the skin. It never bothered me, and it did not make my eyes tear or sting, which is something I always pay attention to.
So until this point, everything felt fine and comfortable.
First impression of the formula
At first glance, this really looks like a gentle, water-based cleanser. Nothing heavy, nothing pore-clogging, nothing aggressive. It feels safe and simple, which is exactly the kind of cleanser many sensitive skin types look for.
And honestly, the ingredient list reflects that feeling very well.
Ingredients & formula thoughts
What I liked most is that the formula feels soft, balanced, and barrier-friendly.
It includes mild cleansing agents like Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Lauryl Glucoside. These help cleanse the skin without making it feel stripped or dry. That is always important for sensitive skin, because over-cleansing can make oiliness and dehydration worse later.
It also contains hydrating ingredients like Glycerin, Panthenol, and Sodium PCA, which help the skin keep moisture and stay balanced instead of feeling too dry after washing.
The soothing side of the formula is nice too. Aloe vera and chamomile are the kind of ingredients that make a cleanser feel a little calmer and more skin-friendly, especially if your skin can get irritated easily.
So, on paper, it is a very thoughtful cleanser. Gentle, simple, and made for comfort.
How it felt on my skin
This is where my experience became a little more mixed.
The cleanser did not burn my skin, did not cause itching, and did not trigger any bad reaction. That part was very good. It felt soft on my face and did not make my skin angry, which is always a good sign for sensitive skin.
But cleansing power is where I started to feel disappointed.
It did not cleanse well enough for me, especially when I had makeup on. I needed a good amount of product, usually about three presses just to wash my face properly. And if I had makeup on, I needed even more.
That was the biggest reason I felt it did not solve my problem. My previous cleanser, Jonzac, was better at removing makeup. I was hoping MARUDERM would be even better, or at least stronger in cleansing, but it was not.
I do think this cleanser is made to be very gentle, and that is not a bad thing. In fact, for sensitive skin, that is exactly what many people need. But for me personally, gentle was not enough right now.
What I liked
What I really liked is that it kept my skin soft and comfortable. It did not leave that stripped, tight, squeaky feeling that some cleansers give. After washing, my skin still felt calm.
And when I used moisturizer afterward, the routine worked nicely. So the cleanser itself was soft on the skin and did not create irritation or discomfort. It was especially nice for days when my skin needed something mild and safe.
I can also see this being a very good cleanser for dry sensitive skin, normal skin, or even oily dehydrated skin, especially in winter. In that kind of situation, a softer cleanser can actually feel much better than a strong one.
What I did not love
The main issue for me is that it simply was not strong enough for my skin needs.
My skin is sensitive, but it is also acne-prone, and sometimes I need a cleanser that can do more. This one is too gentle for that. It feels more like a “safe cleanser” than a cleanser that truly handles extra oil or makeup buildup.
So, while it may work beautifully for someone who wants a soft daily wash, it was not the right fit for my current skin needs.
Who this product is for
This cleanser may be a very good choice if you have:
dry sensitive skin
normal skin
oily but dehydrated skin
a damaged skin barrier
skin that reacts easily to harsher cleansers
a preference for a soft morning cleanser
It can also work well for people who simply hate harsh washes and want something mild and easy on the skin.
Who it may not be for
You may not love this cleanser if you:
have very oily skin
are acne-prone and want stronger cleansing
wear heavier sunscreen or makeup
like that deep-clean, squeaky-clean feeling
need a cleanser that removes makeup more effectively
For me, that was the biggest limit. It was gentle, but not strong enough.
The MiSkin Score
Quality: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Ease of use: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Performance: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Overall: 4/5
Why this score
What makes it good:
Gentle cleansing base with no harsh sulfates
Hydrating ingredients like Glycerin, Panthenol, and Sodium PCA
Soothing ingredients like Aloe and Chamomile
Very barrier-friendly and soft on sensitive or dehydrated skin
Why it is not a perfect score:
No real oil-control ingredients
Not deep cleansing enough for very oily skin
Not strong enough for makeup removal
More of a safe daily cleanser than a treatment cleanser
MiSkin verdict
MARUDERM Face Cleansing Gel for Sensitive Skin is a soft, comfortable, and very gentle cleanser. It does a good job at respecting sensitive skin, and it never caused irritation, burning, or itching for me. It keeps the skin calm and soft, and that is something I always appreciate.
But for my skin, which is sensitive, oily, dehydrated, and acne-prone, it was not quite enough. It is a good cleanser, just not the best one for my current needs. I would say it suits dry sensitive skin, normal skin, and oily dehydrated skin much better than very oily or acne-prone skin.
It does not mean the product is bad. It simply means it was not the perfect match for me right now. Jonzac worked better for my makeup and acne needs, so I will likely go back to that one.
