My Experience with Some By Mi Clear Spot Patch

I found these patches by accident while scrolling on iHerb, during a moment when my skin was clearly not doing well. I was dealing with painful pimples and honestly just wanted something — anything — that could help me get through that phase. I didn’t expect a miracle. I just needed support for my skin while it healed.

First Impression & Packaging

The packaging immediately stood out 💚
It comes with two layers of packaging, which I actually appreciated. There’s the main green pack, and inside, the patches are well protected. It also has a clear-cutting line, which makes it easy to open cleanly without damaging the patches.

Everything feels hygienic, well thought out, and practical — especially if you’re using patches often.

My First Mistake (and a little honesty)

I’ll be honest — this part is on me 😅
At first, I didn’t read the instructions carefully. I assumed these patches contained active ingredients that treat pimples. That’s not the case.

These are not treatment patches.
They don’t heal acne with ingredients.
They work by absorbing fluid and protecting the pimple.

Once I understood that, my expectations changed — and so did my experience.

What the Brand Claims vs. Reality

Here’s what the brand claims, and what I personally experienced:

  • Absorbs oil: ✔️ Yes, it does

  • Protects blemishes from external factors: ✔️ True

  • Ultra-thin and invisible: ⚠️ Thin, yes — invisible, not completely

The patches are thin and discreet, but not 100% invisible. Someone actually told me once, “There’s something on your face,” while I was wearing one. So yes, they’re subtle, but still visible in real life.

Ingredients & How It Actually Works

The main ingredient is Hydrocolloid.
This is the same material used in medical wound dressings.

There are:

  • No alcohol

  • No fragrance

  • No essential oils

  • No active acne-fighting ingredients

Hydrocolloid works by:

  • Absorbing oil and fluid from pimples

  • Protecting the area from bacteria, dirt, and touching

  • Helping the pimple flatten naturally

That’s why, after a few hours, you see white or yellow fluid inside the patch. This is not pus being created — it’s fluid being absorbed.

My Experience on Different Types of Pimples

I used these patches on:

  • Big pimples

  • Small pimples

In both cases, the patch absorbed yellow fluid. As the fluid was pulled out, the pimple slowly collapsed and flattened.

Sometimes, after removing the patch, there was a tiny open spot left. Healing still takes time — this is not instant — but for me, the pimples did not leave scars, and any marks faded gradually.

I also get occasional big hormonal acne. In those moments, the patch really helped by covering the pimple, protecting it, and stopping me from touching it.

How Long to Keep the Patch On

  • Minimum: 6 hours

  • Ideal: 8 to 12 hours

You’ll know it’s working when:

  • The center turns white or yellow

  • The pimple looks flatter underneath

👉 Once the patch is full, remove it. Keeping a full patch on longer won’t make it work more.

When to Change the Patch

Change it if:

  • It fills up with fluid

  • It starts lifting at the edges

  • It feels itchy or uncomfortable

You can apply a new patch after gently cleansing the area and letting the skin dry completely.

When NOT to Use a Patch

Skip acne patches if the pimple is:

  • Deep, hard, and very painful (cystic or hormonal acne under the skin)

  • Fully under the skin with no white head

  • Very inflamed, hot, or spreading

  • Already broken or irritated from over-picking

  • In areas where the patch can’t stick well

These patches work best on:

  • Whiteheads

  • Pimples that have opened

  • Surface-level breakouts

Gentle Aftercare Tip

After removing the patch:

  • Clean the area gently

  • Apply a light, calming moisturizer

  • Avoid acids or strong actives on that spot for the rest of the day

Let the skin rest.

Overall Experience

Once I understood what this product is — and what it is not — I really appreciated it. It doesn’t cure acne, but it supports the healing process in a simple, protective way.

For me, it helped flatten pimples, absorb fluid, and prevent touching, which already makes a big difference.

MiSkin Verdict

Think of acne patches as tiny protective bandages, not acne cures.
Some By Mi Clear Spot Patch does exactly what it promises: it absorbs fluid, protects blemishes, and gives your skin space to heal.

For me, it’s a product I reach for during breakouts — not to fix everything, but to help my skin through the process. And sometimes, that’s exactly what’s needed 🤍
